Prof. Tessa Kerre<\/a> est m\u00e9decin sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e en h\u00e9matologie et chef de clinique \u00e0 l’UZ Gent. Au d\u00e9but de ses \u00e9tudes de m\u00e9decine, elle d\u00e9couvre sa passion pour le syst\u00e8me immunitaire. Gr\u00e2ce au cours du Prof. Jean Plum, elle d\u00e9cide de se sp\u00e9cialiser en m\u00e9decine interne pour soigner les patients oncologiques. Mais avant tout, elle souhaite s’investir dans la recherche scientifique sur l’immunologie. C’est pourquoi elle entame un doctorat au laboratoire du Prof. Jean Plum.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir termin\u00e9 sa sp\u00e9cialisation clinique en m\u00e9decine interne et en h\u00e9matologie (l’\u00e9tude du sang), plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment l’\u00e9tude du cancer du sang et de la greffe de cellules souches, la Prof. Kerre souhaite r\u00e9unir ses deux passions. Elle d\u00e9cide de se lancer dans la recherche sur l’immunoth\u00e9rapie. Malgr\u00e9 les doutes entourant l’immunoth\u00e9rapie en 2006 (vu les r\u00e9sultats scientifiques variables), la Prof. Kerre est persuad\u00e9e du potentiel de cette th\u00e9rapie.<\/p>\n

Aussi entend-elle se consacrer pleinement \u00e0 la recherche sur ce traitement susceptible de changer le pronostic des cancers consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme incurables. En 2013, l’immunoth\u00e9rapie figure \u00e0 la une de Science, un magazine scientifique de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence, comme d\u00e9couverte de l’ann\u00e9e. Depuis ce jour, l’immunoth\u00e9rapie gagne en importance dans la lutte contre le cancer.<\/p>\n

Tessa Kerre s’investit aussi \u00e9norm\u00e9ment dans l’\u00e9ducation th\u00e9rapeutique du patient. Il n’est pas \u00e9vident d’expliquer l’immunoth\u00e9rapie. Il est donc crucial de clarifier et de simplifier les explications m\u00e9dicales sur ce sujet complexe. Elle est persuad\u00e9e de l’importance que repr\u00e9sente la compr\u00e9hension d’une maladie et de son traitement.
