“Het Cancer Research Institute Ghent (CRIG) is een dynamisch netwerk van meer dan 350 kankeronderzoekers en clinici, dat kankeronderzoek wil vooruithelpen en zo wil bijdragen tot nieuwe en betere behandelingen voor kankerpati\u00ebnten. Het doet dit onder meer via opleidingen voor jonge onderzoekers en door in te zetten op meer samenwerking en interactie tussen onderzoekers, clinici, pati\u00ebnten, bedrijven en het brede publiek. CRIG heeft ook als missie om doorbraken in kankeronderzoek in begrijpelijke taal te communiceren naar het brede publiek.
\nGeheel in de lijn van deze doelstellingen, ondersteunt CRIG Immuno-T om het tot bij de pati\u00ebnt en het brede publiek te brengen: de ontwikkeling van kanker, de interactie met het eigen immuunsysteem en het concept immunotherapie zijn nog nooit zo bevattelijk en menselijk voorgesteld.” —Dr Katrien Vanheusden<\/a>, CRIG project manager.<\/p>\n

UGent\/CRIG business developer Dr Daisy Flamez<\/a> heeft het Immuno-T project ondersteund van bij het begin, en zal ook een belangrijke rol spelen bij de verdere ontwikkeling. Daisy behaalde haar PhD op UGent op immunotherapie en faciliteerde dit project vooral omdat de vraag kwam vanuit de directe omgeving van leukemiepati\u00ebnten naar eenvoudige, begrijpbare informatie, die op eigen tempo kon verwerkt en herbekeken worden. Ze hoopt dat deze tool wereldwijd een maatschappelijke en educatieve bijdrage kan leveren.<\/p>\n
