Met haar 117 vakgroepen, verdeeld over 11 faculteiten, biedt ze in vrijwel elke wetenschappelijke discipline hoogstaande en door onderzoek ondersteunde opleidingen aan. De UGent staat open voor alle studenten ongeacht hun levensbeschouwelijke, politieke, culturele en sociale achtergrond. Het motto van de universiteit is &#8216;Durf Denken&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Vandaag de dag is de Universiteit Gent \u00e9\u00e9n van de belangrijkste universitaire instellingen in het Nederlandse taalgebied.
